Androstenedione

Androstenedione

A steroid hormone produced in the adrenal glands and the ovaries. In the adrenal glands, androstenedione doesn't have many effects itself, but is rather a precursor to testosterone. In women, androstenedione is produced in the outer part of the adrenal glands, called the cortex.
